Bank-verified data, shared on your customer's terms.
Blink Data connects your business to customer accounts at New Zealand's major banks. With their consent, you can check account details, balances, transactions and statements without chasing customers for paperwork.
Bank data without the paperwork.
Blink Data is BlinkPay's account information API. When a customer agrees, it retrieves their account information directly from their bank through open banking. You're working from the bank's own records, not emailed statements or screenshots.
It's read-only, so Blink Data can't move money or make payments. Your customer sees exactly what you're asking for and for how long, and approves it with their own bank. They can withdraw that consent at any time.
What you can see, with consent.
You ask only for the data you need, and your customer approves each type. What's available varies by bank, and we'll confirm what's live at each one before you start.
Account details
Confirm the name, number and type of each account your customer holds, so payouts and refunds land in the right place.
Balances
Check current and available balances, typically in real time or within minutes, before you approve a purchase or a credit limit.
Transactions
Review dates, amounts and descriptions across the period your customer has agreed to share.
Statements
Download bank statements as PDFs without asking customers to find and upload their own.
Party information
See the account holder's name and contact details as their bank holds them, where the bank supports it.
How businesses put Blink Data to work.
Account verification at onboarding
Check a new customer's account name and number against what they've told you before the first payment or payout, with no deposit slip or scanned statement needed.
Affordability and income checks
See regular income and outgoings in a customer's transaction history to inform your own affordability assessment.
Reconciliation
Pull transaction data from accounts your customers have connected, and match payments against invoices with less manual checking.
Faster lending decisions
Applicants share their bank data in one step, so your credit team isn't waiting days for statements to arrive by email.
Three steps, with your customer in charge.
Your customer consents at their bank
They choose their bank and review what you're asking for. Then they approve it through their bank's own login or banking app, and BlinkPay never sees their banking password.
You receive the data
Once they've approved, you can retrieve the data they agreed to, for the period they agreed to. Nothing more.
Your customer stays in control
Every consent has an end date, and your customer can withdraw it at any time through your website or app. Once withdrawn, access stops.
Their data is taonga, and we treat it that way.
No screen scraping
Customers never hand over their banking password, to you or to us. Access runs through the banks' official open banking connections, built to Payments NZ API Centre standards.
ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certified
Our information security management is independently certified to the international standard.
Read-only by design
Blink Data can't move money, and it only returns the data your customer has approved.
